Borrowed Plumes are Soon Discovered

This large pierced relief carving incorporates two images created by Walter Crane (1845-1915). One is his delightful illustration of a small bird - a starling, perhaps - which thinks it can pass itself off as a peacock. This is an illustration of an Aesop Fable. In my composition he has found his way into a frieze of disdainful peacocks based on a gorgeous repeating pattern also by Walter Crane.
