The Phoenix Spots Dr Wren

We were given 12 hours over two days to carve our choice of subject related to Sir Christopher Wren. We discovered the dimensions of the wood (250mm x 450 x 75) 10 days before the event so we could model our design. My design shows London burning (from S. of the river overlooking Southwark) and a Phoenix rising from the smoke, about to accost a curious Dr Wren. I was awarded 1st Prize for Woodcarving, which was thrilling given the competition!
